Founded in 1953, the American School Band Directors Association has been and continues to be a positive force in the promotion of instrumental music education and recognizes the need for quality instruction in the artistic world.

The North Carolina Chapter of ASBDA remains one of the largest and most active chapters in the country.  Its membership exhibits the highest level of quality in the field of music education and recognizes the need for fostering student achievement in the performing arts.
